Simmons, Rockecharlie and Prince was founded in 1950 to provide mechanical and electrical
design services to architects, facility owners and contractors. The current
principals have been together since 1970 and key staff members have over 170 years
of combined experience.
The principals are actively involved in all aspects of every project and strive
to meet client needs with quality designs that are practical and cost-effective
to maintain and operate. SRP's state-of-the-art design and drafting facilities are fully networked.

Mr. Rockecharlie has been designing HVAC systems since 1965 and has been Principal
In Charge of the HVAC section since 1970. He has been the Chief Designer of HVAC
systems for medical research facilities, communication and computer centers, schools,
churches, central heating/cooling plants and high-rise office buildings. He writes
all HVAC specifications and is a Certified Value Engineer.
Mr. Rockecharlie graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and keeps his knowledge base current by attending
seminars and continuing education workshops sponsored by industry associations and
peer groups. He is registered with or a member of the following organizations:

WAVERLY A. PRINCE, P. E. VICE PRESIDENT
Mr. Prince has been designing Electrical Systems since 1965 and has been Principle
In Charge of the Electrical Design Section since 1968. He has been the Chief Electrical
Engineer for office buildings, schools, churches, hospitals, banks, public housing,
apartments, airports, shopping centers, malls, laboratories, colleges and military
projects. These projects have included many building renovations.
Mr. Prince graduated form Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with
a B.S. in electrical engineering and is a registered Virginia Professional Engineer.

THOMAS A. ROCKECHARLIE, III, P.E. LEED
Mr. Rockecharlie has worked extensively on commercial office projects involving
new construction, tenant upfit and renovations. School designs include new projects,
alterations, additions, and equipment replacements. He also has a background in
Healthcare Facilities with emphasis on procedural, acute care, and rehabilitative
facilities.
Mr. Rockecharlie graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1990. During
his career he has earned many performance awards including:

- ASHRAE Regional Award of Merit 2007
- ASHRAE Region III Technology Award 2001, (2) 2003, (2) 2005

Mr. Rockecharlie, like other principals of Simmons, Rockecharlie & Prince, is dedicated
to continuing education and regularly attends seminars sponsored by professional
associations.
DINESH NARANG, PE, LEED, AP
Mr. Narang has tremendous experience in design of electrical systems including lighting, power, fire
alarm and communication systems for state, federal, commercial, educational, religious,
medical, industrial and multi family projects.
- His experience in lighting design includes calculating light levels using software
like Lite-Pro and Visual for different space utilization, selection of lamps for
specific color rendition, providing multi-scene dimming for theaters and performance
spaces and designing site lighting and maintain light pollution within acceptable
levels by selecting appropriate fixtures. He is well versed with requirements of
Energy Codes and LEED.
- He is experienced in the design of power distribution equipment for 208V and 480V
distribution systems up to 4000A with dual power company feeds for data centers,
distribution transformers, numerous sub-section and transient suppression systems.
- Fire Alarm System – He designs fully automatic, manual and voice evacuation systems
as required by VUSBC and NFPA for ordinary and special occupancies such as educational,
commercial, industrial and high occupancy facilities including upgrades to existing
buildings such as dormitories to bring audible and visual levels up to current code
requirements.
- His experience in Special Systems design included systems such as Uninterrupted
Power Supply and Generators, lighting and transient protection systems, special
grounding systems, telephone, data, nurse call, security, card access and intercom
systems.
Mr. Narang graduated from MS Ramiah Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Engineering in 1983, is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Virginia and LEED certified.
